In the wake of Patty Duke's death, the late star's son Sean Astin has paid an emotional tribute to his mother.
"I love you mom," Sean, 45, wrote alongside a sweet throwback snapshot of himself and Patty, who sadly died from sepsis caused by a ruptured intestine on Tuesday, March 29.
"This morning, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, matriarch and the exquisite artist, humanitarian and champion for mental health, Anna "Patty Duke" Pearce, closed her eyes, quieted her pain and ascended to a beautiful place," The Goonies actor wrote alongside the Instagram photo. "We celebrate the infinite love and compassion she shared through her work and throughout her life."
In his caption, Sean additionally promoted a newly created CrowdRise mental health project initiative to honor the actress, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the early 1980s.
"I feel rock solid at this moment because I’m charged with a sense of mission for her," he told Good Day LA. "So, it's great to have purpose. There's some things in her life that she’d like to continue after her, and we talked a lot after that. The moment of someone’s passing, particularly a public person, generates a pulse, so I just want to honor that."
