In the new issue of Closer Weekly, John Travolta opens up in a heartfelt interview about his 23-year marriage to actress Kelly Preston and explains how the couple have made their relationship last: with the help of family and a lot of hard work.
“Children are a big factor in motivating you to keep your relationship going,” John tells Closer when asked about the secret to his successful marriage.
Five years after the shocking death of their 16-year-old son, Jett, from a seizure, John and Kelly have worked through their grief and found the birth of their son Benjamin, now three, “helped the family heal and brought them all closer together,” a friend reveals.
John tells Closer that any marriage takes work. “Honestly, after the first few years of a relationship, if you don’t create it, it’s not going to exist.”
He adds, “It’s not going to happen on its own. You have to feed it and you have to fuel it and if you let it go as if by magic, it will disappear by magic.”
