Morley Safer has sadly died. He was 84-years-old.
Just days after the iconic journalist announced his retirement from 60 Minutes after 46 seasons on the news program, CBS confirmed his passing in NYC on Thursday, May 19. His cause of death is not known at this time.

“After more than 50 years of broadcasting on CBS News and 60 Minutes I have decided to retire. It’s been a wonderful run, but the time has come to say goodbye to all of my friends at CBS and the dozens of people who kept me on the air. But most of all I thank the millions of people who have been loyal to our broadcast," Morley said in a statement at the time.

Morley first appeared on 60 Minutes as a correspondent in 1970. His final report on the news program aired in March. Rest in peace, Morley.
