They’ve become household names thanks to their former HGTV hit show Fixer Upper and their multi-faceted company, Magnolia, and it seems as though opportunities are endless for power couple Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines.
With their empire at an all-time high — the pair’s anticipated TV network will replace the DIY Network in summer 2020, the duo is opening a coffee shop soon and they’re even expanding their empire in Waco, Texas, by “buying uptown property at a rapid rate” — the couple say their marriage and family trumps everything else.
Juggling a massive business and being the parents to their five kids — Drake, 14, Ella, 13, Duke, 10, Emmie, 9, and Crew, who turns 1 on June 23 — can’t be easy. But Chip, 44, and Joanna, 41, seem to have it down pat! However, they credit their bond and marriage for all their success, even though the couple says they couldn’t be any more different. “Jo and I are opposites in a lot of ways,” Chip admitted in their magazine, The Magnolia Journal, in late January. “That may lead people to draw the conclusion that we must not see eye to eye on things.”
Even though their altercations are admittedly limited, the renovation guru says nothing is as perfect as it seems. “While we’re not immune to disagreements, I think it’s because of our differences that we’re able to see the best parts of each other,” he said. “And man, when Jo and I show up on the same team, just as we are, and we let each other draw out that gold in the other, that’s when we really start to tap into the fullness of who we were created to be.”
