As Casey Kasem, longtime host of radio's 'American Top 40' lay in a Washington state hospital on June 15, his three children were gathered at his bedside.
"We were with him all night long, and his breathing got more shallow," his daughter Kerri exclusively tells 'Closer.' "We all watched him take his last breath, we all had our hands on him and we all started praying."
While Casey's own battle with illness — including Lewy Body Disease, an aggressive type of dementia — ended that day, a bitter battle rages on between his children from his first marriage and their father's second wife, Jean, over his remains.

Casey's body currently lies in Norway, a situation his eldest daughter, Kerri, 42, insists makes no sense.
"Anybody who knows my dad knew he wanted to be buried in Forest Lawn," a cemetery in Burbank, Calif., she tells 'Closer.' "My father [had] never been to Norway!"

Kerri isn't giving up the fight to grant her father's final wish. She also takes comfort in remembering her special bond with Casey: "He was always there for us," she says.
"There was so much love, it was just overwhelming. He was such an incredible dad," Kerri added.
