Donny Osmond Calls Utah Home! Tour His Gorgeous Estate With Wife Debbie
Ever since Alex Trebek announced his diagnosis with stage IV pancreatic cancer in March 2019, family, friends and fans have rallied around him with tons of support. Although the timeline of his journey has been filled with ups and downs, the iconic Jeopardy! host has shown extreme bravery in his fight against the illness.
“He always says, ‘No matter what, I power through,'” a friend of Alex exclusively shared with Closer Weekly following the TV star’s heartbreaking announcement. “He really is hopeful. He’s got all the help and the care money can buy.”
According to the pal, the former Concentration host’s doctors made his diagnosis after he went for his annual checkup. “He knew he was feeling a little bit off, but he didn’t know the reason,” the insider explained. However, the cancer prognosis didn’t get him down as he “loves his life, his work and his family,” the friend added. “He knows what a privileged, blessed life he has … and he wants more of it.”
Fortunately for Alex, he’s had endless help from his longtime wife, Jean Currivan Trebek. The iconic game show host’s spouse — whom Alex tied the knot with in 1990 — has been using her skills as a sound healer to “uplift him” and give him “a sense of ‘life is beautiful,'” she told Survivornet.com in November 2019.
It appears the dedicated wife’s gestures don’t go unnoticed. “Jeannie is wonderful … but it’s been a lot. It’s a lot of pressure,” he once told People. “My heart goes out to caregivers. They have to deal with their loved ones suffering and they also don’t always know how to help because there’s not much they can do, except try to make you feel more comfortable, at ease and not worry about ordinary stuff.”
Jean’s love and support is the reason he remains so positive, a separate friend insisted. “I think that’s part of it. He has the most beautiful [wife] in every way,” his pal Ruta Lee shared with Closer in April. “She’s not only beautiful on the outside but she’s beautiful internally, and spiritually. She’s very very much a handmaid of the Lord’s.”
Because Alex is so grateful for his family and career, there’s no doubt he won’t give everything he can to win this fight.

The TV Icon Is Not Stopping His Cancer Treatment — July 2020
Alex said he won’t “stop all treatment” for his cancer if his current regimen fails. The game show host opened up about his health after fans misread a quote in his new book, The Answer Is … Reflections on My Life.
“I feel the need to clarify my quote that, if my course of cancer treatment does not continue to work, I would consider stopping treatment. That quote from the book was written BEFORE my current regimen, and I was going through some bad times,” he explained in a statement on Twitter. “My current numbers are very good, but we will have to be patient with this new immunotherapy program that I am on. But, if it were to stop being successful, I would return to my previous chemo treatment — NOT stop all treatment.”

Alex Says His Treatment ‘Is Paying Off’ — July 2020
As he gave fans an update for the first time in months, Alex revealed he was seeing progress thanks to chemotherapy. “I’m doing well, I’ve been continuing my treatment and it is paying off,” he shared in an ABC News video on July 16.
The Emmy winner said although “it does fatigue [him] a great deal,” the chemotherapy treatments seem to be working for now. “My numbers are good and I’m feeling great.”
Alex also revealed he’s gearing up to return to the studios once “it’s safe” amid the coronavirus pandemic. “In the meantime, I’m here at home recording show openings for some very special Jeopardy! episodes that will be coming up in July,” he added. “For the first time ever, we will open the Jeopardy! vault and take another look at some of our favorite episodes — including the very first Jeopardy! show I ever hosted.”

Alex Gives His 1-Year Cancer Battle Update – March 2020
One year after announcing his stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis, Alex gave fans an update on his current “health situation.”
“The one-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer patients is 18 percent. I’m very happy to report I just reached that mark,” Alex began in the video shared on March 4. “Now, I’d be lying if I said the journey was an easy one,. There were some good days, but a lot of not so good days.”
“I joked with a lot of friends that the cancer won’t kill me, the chemo treatments will,” he continued. “There were moments of great pain, days when certain bodily functions no longer functioned and sudden, massive attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it was really worth fighting on.”
Although Alex struggled with fighting against the formidable illness throughout the last year, he insisted he was staying optimistic. “I brushed that aside quickly because that would have been a massive betrayal,” he explained.
“A betrayal of my wife and soulmate, Jean, who has given her all to help me survive,” he sweetly continued. “It would have been a betrayal of other cancer patients who have looked up to me as an inspiration and a cheerleader of sorts, of the value of living and hope. And it certainly would’ve been a betrayal of my faith in God and the millions of prayers that have been said on my behalf.”
The beloved host left fans with a bit of inspiration before his video concluded. “You know something, if I — no, if we, because so many of us are involved in this same situation,” he stated, before continuing, “If we just take it one day at a time, with a positive attitude, anything is possible. I’ll keep you posted.”

Alex Gets Candid About Death — October 2019
Alex began making some very grim comments about death in a recent interview with Canada’s CTV News.
“I’m not afraid of dying,” he said. “I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life … if it happens, why should I be afraid that?”
But even though Alex was talking about death, he still gave viewers a taste of that award-winning humor.
“One thing they’re not going to say at my funeral, as a part of a eulogy, is, ‘He was taken from us too soon,’” the TV host joked.

Alex Has to Under Chemo Again — September 2019
Alex’s health took a turn for the worst when he announced its time for him to “undergo chemo again” because his “numbers went sky high.”
“I was doing so well. And my numbers went down to the equivalent of a normal human being who does not have pancreatic cancer. So we were all very optimistic,” he said on Good Morning America in September. “And they said, ‘Good, we’re gonna stop chemo, we’ll start you on immunotherapy.’”
However, that didn’t last long. “I lost about 12 pounds in a week,” he continued. “And my numbers went sky high, much higher than they were when I was first diagnosed. So, the doctors have decided that I have to undergo chemo again and that’s what I’m doing.”

Alex revealed the best news ever during a May interview with People: He was “near remission!”

Hair Loss — May 2019
Hair loss isn’t fun for anyone and if you’ve started to steadily lose your very full head of hair that you had all your life in your ’70s then you probably know how Alex feels.
“What the challenge for Jeopardy viewers is right now is to figure out, ‘Is that Alex’s real hair or is that a full hair piece?’ Because they all know that when you start chemo you lose your hair, so which is it?” The A-lister admitted to CBS Sunday Morning‘s Jane Pauley in May 12, before saying, “This is not the real me.”

Alex Announces He Has Cancer — March 2019
Lets start from the beginning. On Wednesday, March 6, Alex revealed his cancer diagnosis in a video shared to the show’s official social media accounts.
“Hi, everyone, I have some news to share with all of you and it’s in keeping with my longtime policy of being open and transparent with our Jeopardy fan base,” he said at the time. “I also wanted to prevent you from reading or hearing some overblown or inaccurate reports regarding my health. So therefore, I wanted to be the one to pass along this information.”
“Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer,” he continued. “Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working. And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease. Truth told, I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy for three more years! So help me. Keep the faith and we’ll win. We’ll get it done. Thank you.”
