When you think of legendary game show hosts, more often than not you will first land on Alex Trebek. The iconic Jeopardy! star has been at the helm of the classic program since 1984 — but he of course has had his ups and downs in his career and his life as well, and his wife Jean has been with him through it all.

The TV personality, 79, and his love tied the knot in 1984, and have been inseparable ever since. However, this wasn’t the first marriage for Alex — he said I do to businesswoman Elaine Trebek Kares in 1971, although they parted ways in 1981. While Alex and Elaine didn’t have any children, the same can’t be said for he and Jean.

The loving pair welcomed their first child, a son, in 1990. They named him Matthew, and he is now a restaurateur in New York City who co-owns a Mexican restaurant called Oso. The young man once revealed that his father helped him following the construction progress of the place, including inspecting the space of his resturatant. Three years after welcoming their son, Alex and Jean had a daughter, Emily. Today, she is a real estate agent in California who enjoys flipping houses.

What a family! And it all started with the love between Alex and his wife.
