No matter what Alex Trebek goes through, his wife, Jean Trebek, will always have his back. In her first interview since her husband announced he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Jean opened up about her abilities as a sound healer and revealed how it helps Alex in his fight against the deadly disease.

“The human voice has so much power and healing,” she told Survivornet.com. “It’s like how, when a mother sings a lullaby to her baby, it’s the intention in her voice that is calming the baby. She’s singing the words of love and beauty to this little baby, and the baby feels that in the vibration of her voice.”

Jean has been studying this practice for 10 years and she uses “sound healing” on her husband whenever he feels down about his cancer. “It comes from a place of love, because I want to uplift him … and when I keep my own self buoyed and enjoying my life, I can actually share that with him,” she explained. “He can look at me and have a sense of ‘life is beautiful; my wife is doing something good.'”

With so much support from Jean, Alex feels like he’s the luckiest guy in the world to be married to her. “Jeannie is wonderful. She cried of course this morning when she got the [good] news [about my tumors shrinking]. But it’s been a lot. It’s a lot of pressure,” he told People in May, before he suffered a setback. “My heart goes out to caregivers because they have to deal with their loved ones suffering and they also don’t always know how to help because there’s not much they can do, except try to make you feel more comfortable, at ease and not worry about ordinary stuff.”

As for his work, one of Alex’s Jeopardy! coworkers admits the game show host has no plans to retire. “He has no plans to quit, and is absolutely not announcing his retirement [anytime soon],” the source said to CTV News in October.

We’re glad to hear Alex is remaining strong!
