Jenna Bush Hager experienced an embarrassing gaffe last night while conducting live interviews on the 2017 Golden Globes red carpet — and now she's issuing an apology for her error.
While chatting with Hidden Figures star Pharrell Williams, the Today show host mistakenly called his latest movie "Hidden Fences" — and was immediately called out for mixing up Hidden Figures with another nominated movie, Fences.

Actor Michael Keaton also made the same blunder when announcing actress Octavia Spencer’s nomination as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Hidden Figures. Many viewers took to social media to criticize the stars and claimed the only reason for the mixup was because both films feature a predominantly black cast.
On Monday, Jan. 9, Jenna delivered a heartfelt apology for her mistake on the Today show.\
“I had an error in the night which I have to apologize for,” she said while holding back tears. “When I was interviewing the incomparable Pharrell — who I adore — I accidentally, in the electricity of the red carpet, which I have never done one before, called Hidden Figures ‘Hidden Fences.’ If I offended people — I am deeply sorry. It was a mistake, because I am — y’all know I am not perfect…”
“I am authentic, but a human and what I didn’t want to do is make anybody feel lesser than who they are,” she continued. “I apologize to the cast, to Pharrell, it was a mistake and I hope we can all move on.”
Pharrell — who worked on the Hidden Fences soundtrack — later reached out to Jenna on Twitter and accepted her apology. “Don't worry, [Jenna]! Everyone makes mistakes. Hidden Fences does sound like an intriguing movie though. Just saying…” he said.
