Jen & Justin! Ben & Lindsay! See The Biggest Celebrity Breakups Of 2018

Over the last year, several of our favorite Hollywood couples called it quits. From Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux to Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus, 2018 had its fair share of breakups. Right at the start of the year, Jen and Justin announced their separation in mid-February after just two and a half years of marriage. “In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship,” the pair said in a joint statement at the time.

Months later, Justin candidly opened up about his “heartbreaking” split from Jennifer. “The good news is that was probably the most — I’m choosing my words really carefully — it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity,” he told The New York Times. “Again, neither one of us is dead, neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other. It’s more like, it’s amicable. It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be.”

“It was heartbreaking, only in the sense that the friendship would not be the same, as far as just the day to day. But the friendship is shifting and changing, you know, so that part is something that we’re both very proud of,” Justin added. On the other hand, Jen assured her fans she was far from heartbroken following her second divorce. “It’s pretty crazy. The misconceptions are, ‘Jen can’t keep a man,’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I’m sad and heartbroken,” she told W magazine.

In early December, Jennifer similarly said she’s “very comfortable” with where she is today after splitting from Justin. “My marriages, they’ve been very successful, in [my] personal opinion,” the actress told Elle. “And when they came to an end, it was a choice that was made because we chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness didn’t exist within that arrangement anymore.”
