Beth Howland, an actress best known for playing clumsy waitress Vera Gorman on the hit TV show Alice, has sadly died. She was 74-years-old.
Beth passed away after battling lung cancer on Dec. 31, 2015 in Santa Monica, Calif., her husband, Charles Kimbrough, confirmed to The New York Times earlier this week.

Kimbrough explained his late wife did not want her death to be announced nor a memorial service to be held in her honor following her passing. "It was the Boston side of her personality coming out," he said. "She didn't want to make a fuss."
