It’s been four years since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, both 47, announced they were getting a divorce after 10 years of marriage. Everyone was shocked to hear that the pair, who looked like they were going to be one of those rare Hollywood couples to “make it,” was actually saying goodbye to each other. Their divorce was officially finalized in October of 2018, but plenty has occurred before and after that happening.

On the career side of things, both actors have starred in their fair share of movies since they decided to call it quits. Jennifer has acted in everything from Love, Simon to Peppermint on the big screen to even appearing in the television show Camping. Ben, on the other hand, has been in movies like The Accountant and most notably, played the Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as Justice League.

However, while they have both had their ups and downs, the former duo have done all they can to take care of their three kids — daughters Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10, and son Samuel, 7 — as a team. “She’s wonderful,” the actor once gushed of his ex-wife during an interview on Today. “I’m lucky [my kids have] got a great mom, and she helps out a great deal with making sure we coparent in as good a way as possible.”

The Oscar-winner also revealed just how much respect he has for the Alias alum as a mother to his children. “Somebody’s the mother of your kids, they’re going to be the most important, central part of your life, and that’s good,” Ben said, adding that he also tries “very hard” to be a “pretty good dad” to his children.

“Dads are so important to kids, and it’s our responsibility to be there for them, and to be present, to be mindful, to be attentive, to be part of their lives, to be as in it as moms,” he continued. “That’s really the central preoccupation in my life. It’s what makes me happy and the rest of the stuff kind of follows.”
