Ben Affleck Admits to Having a 'Slip' in Sobriety After Partying

He’s leaving the past in the past! On Sunday, October 27, Ben Affleck arrived to ex-wife Jennifer Garner‘s house after a long night of partying in Los Angeles. While helping Jen and their two youngest kids — Seraphina, 10, and Samuel, 7 — light a jack-o’-lantern for Halloween, the Batman star spoke with paparazzi about his drinking the night before.

“Well you know it happens, it’s a slip but I’m not going to let it derail me,” Ben said in regard to breaking his sobriety at the UNICEF Masquerade Ball Halloween party.

Outside the party, Ben was caught on camera stumbling on the road as he waited with a mystery woman for his car to arrive. He wrapped his arms around her before their vehicle stopped and, once his female friend got in the ride, Ben carefully took his time getting in the car after her. He appeared to be a little bit intoxicated because he almost fell on the street while walking over to the vehicle. However, he remained upright due to a SUV nearby that he used for support.

In August 2018, Jennifer drove Ben to rehab as he went to a facility to get a hold on his alcohol addiction. He recently celebrated his one year anniversary of being sober this past August. “Ben is in a great place in his recovery and life,” an insider said at the time. “He continues to want to be the best father and friend he can be.”

Just a few hours before he partied with his mystery friend in L.A., Ben opened up about his recovery in an Instagram post. “HA, you got me. I’m dating. But let’s be serious for a moment and talk about something that is actually important,” he said. “I have been in recovery for over a year and part of that is helping out others. @themidnightmission is an incredible organization that helps those in need with housing, training, development and recovery.”

“I’m making a donation today because there are people battling addiction every day that don’t have the resources and need help. @raya, you in? Who else is with me?” he continued.

Even with his minor “slip,” Ben seems to still be very much committed to making a change in his life!
