Though Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are some of the most amicable exes in Hollywood, Chris has revealed he battled a "year of depression" following their divorce announcement.
"I still wake up down a lot of days," the 39-year-old singer said in a new interview. "But now I feel like I've been given the tools to turn it around."
Gwyneth, 43, and Chris — who are parents to two kids, daughter Apple, 11, and son Moses, 9 — previously confirmed their separation after 10 years of marriage in March 2014. After their split, the Coldplay rocker started studying scholarly works, including one poignant poem called "The Guest House."

"That one Rumi poem changes everything," Chris said during his Saturday, March 20 sit-down with The Sunday Times. "It says that even when you're unhappy, it's good for you. It took me a year to get it. A year of depression and all that."
