They grow up so fast! Rod Stewart recently appeared on Ireland’s The Late Late Show and revealed that while he acknowledges his teenage son Alastair is getting older, he still really misses him.

“First it was Fortnite, now he has got his phone, so it is all girls. There is a side I feel I have lost in him in the past two or three years,” the 74-year-old said of his 13-year-old son. “I suppose it’s growth, he is becoming a teen, and it is an awkward time for him.” He continued, “I miss him so much. I miss the boy in him.”

The music legend is a father-of-eight including Alastair — Sarah, 55, Kimberly, 39, Sean, 38, Ruby, 31, Renée, 26, Liam, 24, and Aiden, 8. During the interview, he confessed that he sometimes forgets the age of his oldest daughter, adding that he regrets not spending more time with his kids. “Don’t ask me how old the eldest one is please,” Rod said. “She is up there. I had a naughty winkle when I was in my teens … With Sean and Kimberly I was on tour a lot. I was in debt to the IRS in the late 70s. I had to go and do a lot of touring so I didn’t see them.”

The performer seems to be very close to Alastair; in fact, he once revealed that he would want his son to play him in a biopic. “I would love a movie,” he said during an appearance on the British talk show This Morning. “My Alastair said gotta make one about you! Because I can play a younger you. I’d love to cooperate!”

The “Maggie May” singer is currently married to Penny Lancaster, 48, and they raise their sons Alastair and seven-year-old Aiden. While the pair have been married since 2007, Rod has been married twice before and his kids have come from five different relationships.

We know kids get older and find different interests, but we certainly hope Alastair begins spending more time with his dad!
