Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Kids: Meet the Stars' 6 Children

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s high-profile romance didn’t work out, but the exes are making an effort to prioritize parenting their six kids. Throughout their relationship in the 2000s, the Maleficent actress and the Ad Astra star became the proud mom and dad of their children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

Angelina and Brad called it quits in 2016, just two years after they tied the knot in 2014. Though their years-long divorce has been filled with tumultuous twists and turns, including an ongoing custody battle, the Those Who Wish Me Dead star is doing everything she can to coparent as amicably as possible.

The humanitarian purchased the stunning former estate of Cecil B. DeMille in 2017 and later explained her reason for buying the Los Angeles-based mansion. “I wanted it to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away,” Angelina told British Vogue.

Speaking with the outlet for the March 2021 cover, Angelina reflected on the valuable life lessons she learned post-split. “The past few years have been pretty hard. I’ve been focusing on healing our family,” she shared. “It’s slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body.”

Even though the breakup was difficult for the entire family, the Mr. and Mrs. Smith actress previously expressed how she made the “right decision” to split from the Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood star. Angelina said she ended their marriage for the “well-being” of their kids.

“I continue to focus on their healing,” she shared with Vogue in a June 2020 interview. “Some have taken advantage of my silence … but I remind the [kids] that they know their own truth and their own minds.”

As the mom of one of Hollywood’s most famous broods, Angelina has always been open and honest with her children about growing up in the spotlight. However, the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider alum revealed her family couldn’t actually care less about their superstar status.

“I’ve wanted them to be exposed to it all. It’s a part of their life,” she told Extra in September 2019. “But it’s not important to them and a center of their lives in a way that’s unhealthy. It’s all fun.”

Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt

Back in 2002, Angelina adopted her first child from an orphanage in Battambang, Cambodia. The A-lister’s son was less than a year old, having been born on August 5, 2001. While he was given the name Rath Vibol at birth, the loving mama changed his moniker to Maddox soon after.

The eldest of the Jolie-Pitt kids, Maddox is now a college student at Yonsei University. After dropping her child off at school in South Korea in August 2019, Angelina opened up about what it’s like to watch Maddox pursue his dreams.

“I’m so happy for him that [Maddox has] grown up into such a good man,” the filmmaker told ET in August 2019. “I say that because he’s smart and he’s doing his work, but he’s also wild. He’s balanced in his teenage years.” Though Maddox returned home to the U.S. in April 2020 and was learning remotely amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Sun reported in March 2021 that he was set “to return to [his] South Korea college.”

Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt

Pax is the second oldest child of Brangelina, who was born on November 29, 2003. However, he didn’t join their brood until he was adopted in 2007. Luckily for fans, the handsome kiddo makes plenty of public appearances, mainly with his mom. In 2018, he accompanied Angelina as her date to the Golden Globes. More recently, they stepped out in Paris during a family vacation in July 2021.

Aside from attending fun Hollywood events, Pax spends a lot of time with his siblings or friends when he’s not studying. In no time, he’ll be following in Maddox’s footsteps and heading off to college.

Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt

Months after Zahara’s birth on January 8, 2005, Brad and Angelina decided to adopt a child from Ethiopia, and that’s exactly what they did when they took in their daughter from an orphanage in Addis Ababa. Like her other siblings, Zahara is quite comfortable with the spotlight.

In addition to hitting the red carpet at fun film premieres, Zahara is often spotted shopping around town with her mama. In February 2021, Angelina proudly shared that her daughter was going to take her driver’s license test but “with the driver wrapped in the full outfit with the masks” due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt

Fans went into a frenzy when Brad and Angelina’s first biological child, Shiloh, was born on May 27, 2006. In order to keep a low radar, the tot was delivered through a scheduled C-section at a hospital in Swakopmund, Namibia.

Like the rest of Shiloh’s siblings, the ex-couple’s child has grown up right before their eyes and is such a smart kiddo. “Shiloh loves challenges, dark fantasy worlds, puzzles, movies and indie music. Edgy stuff just like Angie,” an insider told In Touch in June 2019. “[Shiloh] definitely marches to a different drummer, and Angie not only loves that, but she encourages it.”

Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt

More members joined the family on July 12, 2008, when Angelina gave birth to their twins, Knox and Vivienne, in a seaside hospital in Nice, France.

As the youngest in the family, the twins have a lot of history in their names. Vivienne’s middle moniker, Marcheline, was inspired by her maternal grandmother’s first name. As for Knox, he got his first name from Brad’s paternal grandfather, Hal Knox Hillhouse. His middle moniker, Leon, is also the name of Angelina’s great-grandfather.
