Rumors of an alleged feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have been swirling around the palace walls the past few months, and Queen Elizabeth is doing anything in her power to stop it. “The queen is confident that she’ll be able to get Kate and Meghan back on track,” a royal insider revealed to Closer Weekly in an exclusive new interview, on newsstands now.

However, it hasn’t been easy. “The queen is extremely fair and isn’t taking sides,” the source added. But the 91-year-old monarch has been exhausting all efforts to get to the bottom of this. Not only has she already spoken with their husbands, Prince Harry and Prince William, respectively, but she’s also encouraged the Duchess of Cambridge to step in and try to settle this herself.

Since Kate, 37, is already a mom-of-three, Her Majesty thinks the brunette beauty can lend some comfort to Meg, also 37, who is expecting her first child with Harry, 34, this spring. “She believes that once Meghan gives birth, the two of them will have more in common and will bond over their children,” the insider said, adding that the two women are likely to put their differences aside for the queen at some point. “It’s just not going to happen overnight.”

The two duchesses proved that to be true as they both attended a celebration honoring Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, March 5. “Setting a good example is at the top of the queen’s list of priorities,” the source shared, adding that although “everyone was very civil,” William, 36, and Kate “worked the room separately from” Harry and Meg.

The rumors of their supposed feud began when the two sister-in-laws reportedly clashed during a fitting for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid gown prior to Meghan’s May 2018 wedding to Harry. “Meghan is determined to do things her way, even if it means breaking protocol,” the source dished, pointing out their completely different personalities. “Kate is easygoing,” while “Megan is a perfectionist.” Either way, we have faith that the queen will work her magic!
