Happy holidays from the Sussexes! Duchess Meghan (née Markle) and Prince Harry took to Instagram on Christmas Day to spread a little holiday cheer. The couple — who are enjoying some R&R with baby Archie and Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, in Canada this year — sent the message while celebrating thousands of miles away from the rest of the royal family.

“Wishing you all a very merry Christmas,” they wrote, adding festive emojis — like a Christmas tree, a Santa face and a snowman — to their caption. To top it off, there’s even a Santa hat added to their monogram.

This post comes just days after we learned Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, would be heading to Canada with their 7-month-old son for the holidays. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private family time in Canada,” a spokesperson for the royal couple told Us Weekly in a statement on Friday, December 20. “They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”

Closer Weekly then learned that the royal trio — plus Doria — would be staying with Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney and her husband, Ben Mulroney, in Toronto. Meghan previously lived in Toronto while filming Suits.

“It was exactly what Meghan wanted,” a source close to Jessica exclusively told Closer. “She wanted Archie’s first Christmas to be low-key and mellow where they can all hang out in their pajamas in the living room and laugh and joke — and not have it be very stuffy with the rest of the royal family.”

“Harry was excited too and the fact that they’re still in the Commonwealth made it much easier for them to escape without having to answer a lot of questions from everyone else,” the insider added.

Just ahead of Christmas Day, the Sussexes shared their first-ever Christmas card as a family of three — choosing to highlight Archie. The card, which was released digitally on social media by their charity The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, shows the royal kiddo front and center while mom and dad smile in the background.
