Even though Joanna Gaines and Chip Gaines tied the knot almost two decades ago, they still act like total newlyweds. The HGTV alum honored his 17th anniversary with his longtime wife by sharing a heartwarming message and throwback photo from their wedding day.

“Juuuust married!” Chip, 45, gushed via Instagram on Sunday, May 31. “Everything about you has made everything about me better. And 17 years later, I’m still learning from and loving on the most incredible woman in the world.”

Alongside his message, the former Fixer Upper star shared the sweetest snap of him planting a kiss on Joanna’s cheek following their nuptials in 2003. “After all these years, Joanna Lea Stevens, you really are the girl of my dreams,” Chip added in his caption. “Happy 17th sweet girl. I love you.”

This year, Chip and Joanna honored their special milestone at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although the home renovation gurus were unable to enjoy a night on the town, a friend revealed they were quite content celebrating in quarantine with their five kids, Drake, 15, Ella, 14, Duke, 12, Emmie Kay, 10, and Crew, 23 months.

This anniversary is about sticking together,” a pal close to the pair told Closer Weekly ahead of their anniversary in mid-May. “Joanna doesn’t want to be pampered. She wants a family celebration that everyone can participate in. They all have a lot to be grateful for.”

The TV star duo’s anniversary isn’t so surprising to fans considering they’re one of Hollywood’s most enviable couples. However, Chip once dished he actually didn’t consider himself “a person that was naturally built for marriage” until he crossed paths with the We Are the Gardeners author.

“When you start experimenting with this idea that I love something more than I love myself — and I’m an arrogant, self-centered freak — [that’s when you know],” Chip shared with E! News in March, adding “anybody can have [unconditional love]” once they meet the right person. “At the end of the day, I love Jo more than anything in the world.”

The doting dad said he proved himself wrong when he met Joanna while she was working at her father’s automotive store in 2001. “Her dad made the mistake of putting a pic of the family behind the counter at his [automotive] shop,” Chip once sweetly recalled to PopSugar. “I knew I’d marry her one day just by the picture on the wall.”

We hope Chip and Joanna had the best day!
