There’s one hairstyle that is making Courteney Cox cringe now that she’s looking back at it, and unfortunately for her millions of people saw her rock it.

The 54-year-old recently spoke to People and revealed that she can’t believe she thought her hair in the 2000 film Scream 3 is the one she ended up going with the entire movie. “The fact that people say ‘forever on film,’ that is really true and it’s so bad,” the Friends alum said. The actress was playing the role of reporter Gale Weathers for the third time in the franchise, and she quickly realized that finding the right hair was getting difficult.

“I liked to change her [Gale’s] hair every time,” the Golden Globes nominee recalled. “I had these bangs and they were cut too short. At that time in my life, I wasn’t the kind of person who would say, ‘You know what? These are too short. We need to get new bangs.’”

But here’s some good news: the Cougar Town alum didn’t really have to cut her own hair, as she instead went with a hair piece. “I was just like, ‘Oh, well, okay, oh God, they don’t look great,’” she continued. “In reality I should have said, ‘No, no, no we have to get new bangs.’ I did not stick up for myself and hence I look horrible. That was a big lesson—take care of yourself.”

There is a person though who will always like Courteney regardless of her hair, and that’s her longtime love, Johnny McDaid. Although there’s a term that the mother-of-one doesn’t particularly enjoy saying. “He’s my partner. That’s what he calls it, my partner,” she recently explained while on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “And I’m from Alabama, so you don’t really say partner unless you’re in the same sex. He’s my guy, he’s my one, but saying partner’s difficult for me.”

Well, we still think Courteney has more of an issue with those bangs from the past.
