Meghan Markle’s Friends Are ‘Surprised’ The Pregnancy Happened So Quick, But ‘Knew She Was Trying’, Sources Say
It’s been a whirlwind of emotion since fans all around the world found out about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pregnancy on Monday, Oct. 15. But it looks like fans weren’t the only ones surprised by the news.
Friends of the 37-year-old mom-to-be were caught off guard by the timing of Kensington Palace‘s announcement that the royal couple is expecting. If you think about it, Meghan is reportedly between 12 to 15 weeks along in her pregnancy, which means the baby must have been conceived between June and early July — which ultimately means the couple was only married for a handful of weeks before they began trying for a baby.
“Her friends knew she was trying and that she wasn’t going to wait long because she’s older,” a source told People. “But everyone was so surprised it happened so quickly.” Though friends of the Duchess were a little taken aback at the timeline of Meghan’s pregnancy, they were becoming suspicious, the source added.
The pregnancy was announced just as Harry and Meghan began their tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga. With a pregnancy announcement, 16-day tour involving 76 appearances, and greeting upwards of hundreds and hundreds of people, it’s important for Meghan to make sure that her body stays healthy. It’s easy to say that the newly pregnant Duchess is juggling a lot these days, but luckily for her, Meghan has the support of her best friend, who happens to be visiting Australia at the same time as her and Harry.
Jessica Mulroney, Meghan’s BFF and stylist, shared to Instagram on Monday that she and her husband, Canadian television host, Ben Mulroney, had arrived in “beautiful” Australia. The two trips lined up coincidentally, and Jessica and Ben are expected to support Meghan and Prince Harry at the Invictus Games, being held in Sydney starting Oct. 20.
The timing could not be more impeccable for Meghan and her BFF to spend some time together, and Jessica may even be able to offer some advice to Meghan considering the stylist is a mom of three. Jessica’s arrival in Australia happened after the royal couple officially announced they’re expecting their first child, however, Meghan’s BFF apparently knew of the pregnancy months ago! Meghan supposedly told Jessica she was pregnant when the Duchess secretly flew out and visited her in Toronto in August, Us Weekly reported. Shoutout to Jessica for being so loyal in keeping her best friend’s secret — we wonder if she pinky-promised not to tell!
