Nearly two weeks after Joan Rivers' tragic death, a new report claims the clinic where she went into cardiac arrest did, in fact, perform an unauthorized biopsy on her vocal cords, despite their denial of having done so last week.
According to a source close to the investigation of Yorkville Endoscopy, Joan was at the clinic on Aug. 29 for a scheduled procedure with Dr. Lawrence Cohen, the clinic's medical director.
But an unnamed ear, nose and throat specialist, not certified by the clinic, proceeded with a biopsy following the surgery, which the 81-year-old had reportedly not consented to ahead of time.
The CNN source also shares that a staff member at Yorkville told investigators the specialist took a selfie with the entertainer while she was under anesthesia.

Joan's cardiac arrest is believed to have been caused by a swelling of her vocal cords during the alleged biopsy, cutting off oxygen to her lungs. The comedienne was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan where she died a week later.
Though the clinic has refused to comment on the ongoing investigation, they did confirm that Dr. Cohen "is not currently performing procedures...nor is he currently serving as medical director."
The source added that neither Cohen nor the unnamed ear, nose and throat doctor have been accused of any wrongdoing at this time, CNN reports.
