Royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still have yet to decide whose going to be their royal baby’s godparents. Even though it seems like Prince William and Kate Middleton would be the perfect pair for the job, chances are it won’t be them.

Since the Duke, 36, and Duchess, 37, of Cambridge didn’t name the Sussexes as their kids’ godfather, Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, will likely give the role to someone else. During the time of Prince George‘s christening, royal correspondent Robert Jobson said Harry didn’t need to be a godfather to William’s son because he “will have a role in [the baby’s] life anyway.” So who exactly will be baby Sussex’s godparents?!

When it was reported that George Clooney and Amal Clooney would be “shoo-ins” for the role, a lot of royal fans started to believe that it will be the Hollywood couple. The 57-year-old Oscar winner quickly dispelled those rumors, saying, “Oh yes, I’ll be godfather of the royals apparently. No! I’m a father of twins, I have enough s–t to deal with — literally!”

Besides the Clooneys, Meghan’s BFF Serena Williams also seems like a good contender. The 37-year-old tennis star attended the young royal’s baby shower in New York City and apparently spent close to $200,000 to make sure the event was as glamorous as possible.

“We have known each other for a long time,” Serena recently told The Project. When she attended Meghan’s beautiful wedding to Harry in May 2018, she had nothing but good things to say.

“I felt like we were literally watching history,” she gushed at the time. “I feel like in a few years, when I look back at that moment, it’s just gonna be so historic. It’s gonna be something people never forget. The whole service was really wonderful and most of all, I just wanted to see my friend be happy and I think that’s what happened.”

Meghan’s friend Jessica Mulroney also attended the royal wedding and could possibly be baby Sussex’s godmother. Not only was Jessica, 39, there to support her bestie, but Oprah Winfrey, Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall and Priyanka Chopra were also there to see the former actress tie the knot.

With so many great friends and family, it’s anyone’s game! We have no doubts that whoever Harry and Meghan will choose will be up to the task.
