A lavish party fit for a duchess! The world was rocked when Meghan Markle took a secret trip to New York City earlier this week to attend her two-day baby shower that took place at Manhattan’s The Mark Hotel in the penthouse suite. Meg’s fun trip consisted of dining in five-star restaurants, visiting museums and shops around town and spending well-deserved quality time with her closest friends.

Not surprisingly, all of that comes with a pretty penny price tag, though. According to Vanity Fair, the 37-year-old’s highly publicized and baby shower cost around £152,000 which is about $200,000. Wow! So who exactly is paying for all that? Well, according to the outlet, not British taxpayers but, apparently, Meghan’s famous pal Serena Williams is footing the bill.

For the baby shower alone, the professional tennis player, 37, reportedly booked out the penthouse suite at a cost of $75,000 per night. While many are not usually inclined to spend that amount of money for a party, let us assure you that the space sounds like it was well worth it. According to VF, the penthouse suite that Meg and her friends stayed in had at least two floors and has a stunning view of Central Park. The suite also includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, two powder rooms and four fireplaces. Impressive!

If you want an idea on how extravagant this trip really was, the penthouse that Meg and her pals stayed in is apparently not only the largest suite in the United States, but it is also said to be in the most expensive hotel.

Serena and Amal Clooney — who reportedly cohosted the shower together — were just two among many of Meghan’s close friends who were in attendance at the big bash. The brunette beauty’s stylist and longtime friend, Jessica Mulroney, was at the party (of course), along with Markus Anderson, Misha Nonoo and her former Suits costar Abigail Spencer. However, there was one familiar face noticeably missing from the festivities.

According to Good Housekeeping, Meg’s sister-in-law, Kate Middletonpossibly didn’t fly across the pond for the shower because Meg’s party was supposedly planned for her friends who don’t see her very often and can’t afford to visit her all the time in London. Instead, the Duchess of Cambridge, 37, has been spending quality time with her kids this week as Prince George, 5, and Princess Charlotte, 3, are both on their half-term break from school. Perhaps Kate can celebrate Meg and Baby Sussex when she returns back to Kensington Palace!
