It seems like the latest staff member to leave Meghan Markle‘s team is hitting the duchess hard as she is reportedly not very happy at all about the departure.
According to Daily Mail, the former actress, 37, is “very sad” about Amy Pickerill’s exit, as she was described as her most trusted aide. A palace source adds, “Amy and Meghan will stay in touch because they are so close. “I’ve no doubt they will continue to speak and Amy will continue to support Meghan. Their relationship is really strong.”
Amy, 33, has been the Duchess of Sussex’s assistant private secretary since last year, and she was apparently handpicked to succeed the previous private secretary Samantha Cohen, who turned in her letter of resignation this past December in what a source called a “huge loss.” Amy had various tasks, including collecting cards and gifts that the Suits alum received during royal engagements, handling some of Meghan’s diary and even preparing her briefs ahead of every engagement.
A royal source told the outlet that Amy was a “really popular member of staff.” A friend of Amy’s added, “She has agreed to stay on to help them with the birth of the baby and organize their new household, but will then move on.” Aside from Amy and Samantha, Meghan has also seen the lost of two other close aides within the last couple of months.
Melissa Touabti, a previous personal assistant of the pregnant royal, also quit late in 2018, and earlier this year Meghan’s bodyguard stepped down from her position after only six months on the job. The latter protected Meghan and Prince Harry during their first joint tour.
“The bodyguard is leaving Scotland Yard entirely, not just her role as PPO [personal protection officer],” a source recently told Us Weekly, adding that the guard is not abandoning her royal duties because of Meghan. “The decision to leave was personal and no reflection on her time working with Meghan, who she liked working with. She will be missed.”
Here’s hoping Meghan doesn’t lose anymore aides!
