Meghan Markle is reportedly down another staff member after her bodyguard recently put in her letter of resignation after only six months of working with the pregnant Duchess of Sussex. According to The Sunday Times, the bodyguard — whose name has not been released to the public — helped protect Meghan, 37, on her first joint royal tour with Prince Harry this past October and also kept her safe throughout the early stages of her first pregnancy.

“The bodyguard is leaving Scotland Yard entirely, not just her role as PPO [personal protection officer],” a source recently told Us Weekly, adding that the bodyguard is not abandoning her royal duties because of Meghan. “The decision to leave was personal and no reflection on her time working with Meghan, who she liked working with. She will be missed.”

The Sunday Times also revealed that Meghan’s former bodyguard was a replacement for Prince Harry’s head of security, Sergeant Bill Renshaw, who helped protect the royal family for 31 years. Having a female as Meghan and Harry’s chief protection officer was a great stride for women, and now, Scotland Yard’s Royalty and Specialist Protection branch might want to hire another female to continue the job.

Also when Meghan was on her royal tour with Prince Harry last fall, she was rushed out of a market in Fiji by her security because of “crowd management issues.” However, The Sunday Times is now reporting that Meghan’s bodyguard might have had a lot to do with the Duchess’ decision to leave the crowded market early.

Now, Meghan might need to scramble to find another person to protect her since she will soon be giving birth to her first royal baby this spring. Two other staff members who have also recently quit Meghan’s team are her personal assistant, Melissa Touabti, and Prince Harry and Meghan’s private secretary, Samantha Cohen.
