This past week, on January 9, Kate Middleton celebrated her 37th birthday. But a new report reveals that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not on hand for her gathering. Awkward…

According to Daily Mail, Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, did not make an appearance at the Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday lunch at Anmer Hall. Her husband, Prince William was there, as well as some close friends, in the country home that has ten bedrooms. And yet, apparently the person that Kate has had an alleged feud with for quite some time didn’t get an invite.

The outlet does reveal that Emile Jardine-Paterson, who is a godmother to Prince George, was at the lunch, as was Princess Charlotte‘s godmother, Laura Meade. Kate and William also welcomed their close friend Sophie Carter, and her husband Robert. No word yet at what went down at this get-together, but even if there were some party games, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex weren’t a part of it.

Kate received plenty of birthday wishes via social media, including a very special one from the royal family. “Happy Birthday to HRH The Duchess of Cambridge!” they tweeted. Another tweet followed with, “The Duchess undertakes royal duties in support of The Queen, both in the UK & overseas – and devotes her time to supporting charitable causes & organizations, several of which are centered around providing children with the best possible start in life.”

As for Meghan and Kate, the former’s no-show at the birthday lunch just adds fuel to the rumor that the pair are still not seeing eye-to-eye. Even though they both were spotted smiling and walking together at the royal family’s annual Christmas church service, it seems there’s still a rift there. Most recently, Radar Online reported that even Meghan’s own mother, Doria Ragland, is apparently ready to defend her daughter. “Doria was very happy when the royals were rolling out the red carpet for her daughter, but if she feels they’re mistreating her in any way she’ll come flying to her defense with all guns blazing,” the source told the outlet. “She’s a very protective, down-to-earth person who won’t be fazed by anyone’s status  — even the Queen’s.” The insider added, “Meghan knows this, of course, and it’s a huge source of comfort her very own Mama Bear is ready to leap to her defense.”

Well, let’s just hope that Kate invites Meghan and Harry to her next event — even if it’s just sitting down for tea.
