Reaching insane superstardom may have been easy for Farah Fawcett, but finding the perfect Hollywood romance proved far more difficult. The famed Charlie’s Angelsstar — who sadly died at the age of 62 in 2009 after a lengthy battle with anal cancer — had a few long-term relationships throughout her Hollywood years.
Although she played characters in some of the biggest romantic tear-jerkers of all time, Farrah’s love stories with past flames were anything but a fairytale — including relationships with Lee Majors and Ryan O’Neal.

Farrah and Lee met thanks to The Six Million Dollar Man star’s publicist. After being introduced, Lee took the blonde beauty out for coffee — where they eventually hit it off and began dating. Farrah and Lee tied the knot in 1973, but sadly divorced in 1982 after nine years together.
While they were still married, the couple juggled their superstar careers with their whirlwind romance — even though it proved to be difficult at times. Reflecting back on his relationship with the Extremities actress, Lee recently explained to Peoplewhy their relationship was sometimes complicated.
“It was hard to get around. It was not quite as hard as it is today with everyone has a cellphone and the social media is so quick,” he told the outlet. “Back then we only had to deal with the paparazzi at large. A lot of time you could evade them, but not all the time.” He added, “There was a year or so when I think I saw her two weeks in one year. It’s very difficult with careers like that. This business is tough. Working 14 hours a day, both of you, and the days went by.”
Although they both went on to live separate lives following their divorce, the two remained amicable. In fact, after the beloved actress was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, Lee tried to contact her — despite it being over 20 years since they had last spoken. “When Farrah got diagnosed, and it became public, Lee started calling Farrah’s close friends to get updates on her,” a source revealed to Us Weekly in 2009. “He did that for two and a half years. He just wanted to know how she was doing because he still cared about her as a friend.”
Farrah met Ryan after her ex-husband, Lee, suggested the two get together while he was out of town one day in 1979. The beginning of their relationship wasn’t the smoothest — by the time Farrah and Lee divorced in 1982, Ryan had already married actress Joanna Moore, who he had two children with. The Love Story star had a third child with actress Leigh Taylor-Young, who he married after divorcing Joanna. Although Farrah and Ryan never tied the knot, the couple did give birth to their only child together, son Redmond, in 1985.
Sadly, the couple’s relationship ended — one of a few times — after the Small Sacrifices actress caught her husband in bed with another much younger woman — actress Leslie Stefanson — in 1997 at his oceanfront California mansion, he has admitted in court papers. Ryan revealed that following the explosion, things weren’t the same. “She boxed a few things and sent them to me. I was so surprised,” he said in his court deposition, according to Daily Mail. “I was with her for 18 years. I only got four boxes, mostly shoes and videotapes.”
Although their relationship was filled with ups and down, the couple reconciled after Ryan was diagnosed with leukemia in 2001. “I’ve asked her to marry me, again, and she’s agreed,” her told Barbara Walters just days before Farrah’s death.
Farrah met Greg Lott, a former football player, at Texas University in the ’60s when they both were students. “I first set eyes on her in the garden of the house she shared with a bunch of other girls and she just blew all the others away. She was the most stunning creature I’d ever seen. She was flawless,” Greg told the Daily Mailin August 2009. Although he “lost her to Hollywood,” Greg said that he and the Golden Globe Award nominee had a private affair for over a decade at the end of her life.
“We were blind, crazy, in love,” he told the outlet — explaining that the couple got together after Farrah caught Ryan cheating on her in 1997. “Farrah was my best friend and my inspiration. We fell in love with each other all those years ago and we never really stopped loving each other. Our lives took us in very different directions but, in the end, her heart always came home to me and Texas.”
Sadly, Greg never had the opportunity to say goodbye to the beloved actress. “For the rest of my life I will live with the guilt of not being there for her at the end,” he said, explaining that Ryan blocked his phone calls and denied him entry to her home when he traveled to see her.
