It’s been nearly four years since Drew Barrymore split from her third ex-husband, Will Kopelman, in 2016 and, since then, the Santa Clarita Diet star hasn’t had much luck when it comes to dating.

On Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14, the 43-year-old actress took to Instagram and confessed that she hasn’t gone on a date in quite some time. “I love my children first, of course,” Drew said of her daughters, Olive, 6, and Frankie, 4, who she shares with Will, 40. “But this day is just about love period. And if you don’t have it with a romantic partner (I’m single and have not been able to successfully date for almost four years so what do I know you ask?) I believe with all my heart in the human heart,” she captioned the post.

The heartfelt message came from Drew after model Joy Seaboch left the actress a series of heart-shaped notes taped to the mirror in her trailer. “Hey D.B.,” the first message read, followed by other notes that said, “You are f–king amazing … And a total BABE (duh) … Don’t doubt this even for a second today … Joy.”

Thanks to Joy’s sweet words, Drew took the opportunity to remind her fans that Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples. “I am not totally sure what Valentine’s Day is supposed to feel like,” the actress admitted. “But when I walked in my trailer today at work and saw that my friend @joyseaboch had put this on my mirror, I knew. I know this … I love my friends.”

She’s also learned to accept being single. “I have fought my way to a deeper happiness on my own, and I love being independent! It just rules,” Drew gushed. “I am also lucky enough to have two young amazing kids and a fulltime job, and rad friends. So I’m not sitting around bummed out. I feel stupid grateful. But I’m still a romantic at heart.”

Despite not having as much luck with dating after her third divorce, the Charlie’s Angels alum hasn’t given up on finding love. In February 2018, Drew revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that Will once caught her on a dating app months after they called it quits in April 2016.  “One night I’m flying home by myself, and I’m like, ‘Screw it! I’m going to fulfill my fantasy and go on a dating app,” she began.

However, Drew didn’t find what she was looking for. “I got off the site. Then I’m with my children’s father, wonderful Will, in the kitchen and he walks in and goes, ‘Why are you on Raya?’ I was like, ‘How do you know?! I was on it for four days, five days! How do you know I’m on Raya?!'” she said. Drew might not be in love, but at least she and Will remain friends and great coparents to their girls today!
