Single Drew Barrymore Spent Valentine’s Day Celebrating Her ‘Amazing Kids, Full-Time Job and Rad Friends’
Though she was single this Valentine’s Day, Drew Barrymore had lots to be thankful for and celebrate on the special holiday. On Thursday, February 14, the Santa Clarita Diet star took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message with her followers. “I am lucky enough to have two young amazing kids, and a full-time job and rad friends,” the 43-year-old wrote in the caption. “So I’m not sitting around bummed out. I feel stupid grateful.”
Drew also took the day to celebrate her amazing friendships. “When I walked in my trailer today at work and saw that my friend @JoySeaboch had put this on my mirror, I knew. I know this … I love my friends.” In the photo that she shared, Drew is smiling behind her phone into a mirror that has sweet messages taped to the glass. “Hey D.B. You are f–king amazing. And a total babe (duh). Don’t doubt this for a second today,” the messages written across five cut-out hearts read. Take a look at Drew’s touching post below!
Although she’s been single “for almost four years” — Drew was previously married to Will Kopelman, whom she divorced in 2016 as well as Tom Green and Jeremy Thomas — the blonde beauty insisted that you don’t need a significant other to make your Valentine’s Day special. “The constant love usually has been my kids and my friends. A type of love that does not require a romantic partnership and navigation,” she admitted.
And the kids that she gushed about are her daughters, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, 6, and Frankie Barrymore Kopelman, 4, whom she shares with her ex-husband Will. In her inspiring V-Day message, the Never Been Kissed actress continued to note that although she’s not quite “ready for love,” she still has many blessings. “I have fought my way to a deeper happiness on my own and I love being independent! It just rules,” she wrote, adding, “As for today, don’t waste the day being sad about what you don’t have! Be happy about what you do have. It’s there. I promise.”
Although Drew’s last marriage ended in divorce, the Golden Globe Award-winning actress opened up in December 2018 about coparenting with her ex-hubby and how she “would do it all over again” if given the chance. “Will and I continue to marvel at what we made and try to be the best coparents we can be,” Drew wrote on Instagram at the time. “It’s not always easy and the point is … nothing in life is. But it doesn’t mean that any bitter outweighs the sweet!” We love how positive Drew is!
