Dean McDermott Admits ‘True Tori’ Series ‘Certainly Helped’ His Marriage: ‘It Got Us Into Therapy’
Celebrity couple Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling gave viewers an inside look into their life when they did True Tori in 2014. Their reality TV show allowed the audience to see exactly what goes on inside their marriage and, in a new interview, Dean admitted that series was the push he and Tori needed to work on their relationship.
“When we did True Tori, that was one of our hopes — that it would help others. It certainly helped us, because it got us into therapy a lot quicker and sped up the process of dealing with this, because we were doing a show around it,” he recently revealed to Us Weekly.
Even though the docuseries only lasted for two seasons, Dean is glad America got the chance to see how a real marriage works.
“It did help people, but I think it was a little too before its time. I don’t think people were ready for that kind of reality,” he explained. “It was really raw and we were really vulnerable.”
After the show ended, Dean and Tori put a lot more work into their marriage. In 2006, they tied the knot and they’re still going strong.
“I’m madly in love with my husband. I’m really blessed, 14 years. 14 in May,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 star recently gushed to Closer Weekly and a few other reporters at the Nights of The Jack Friends & Family VIP Preview Night. “Yeah, I look at him everyday and I’m like I’m so in love with him. Even when I’m mad at him I look at him and I think he’s so hot.”
Plus, Dean feels the exact same way about his beautiful wife. “It’s mutual,” he also said. “I popped in, she was getting her hair done today and I popped in after the gym to see her to get my hair relaxed. I have a wave in my hair. I was like, ‘Babe, you’re so beautiful,’ and she’s like, ‘You’re crazy,’ and I’m like ‘About you.’ You’ve seen the foils, right? And the outfit she had on she was so cute. I said, ‘You look cute adorable and beautiful.’”
