She’s a proud mom to Coco Arquette, but Courteney Cox just revealed that before she welcomed her 14-year-old daughter into her life, it was very hard for her to get pregnant. In her new Facebook Watch docuseries, 9 Months With Courteney Cox, the Friends alum candidly opened up about the multiple miscarriages and IVF treatments that she experienced before becoming a mother and told Entertainment Tonight why she decided not to keep quiet about her struggles.

“No one ever taught me that lesson,” Courteney, 54, explained. “I didn’t know you were supposed to be private. I just don’t think like that … If I can share any light or give any wisdom to somebody, or hope, I would share anything I can. In the end, I think that’s important.”

Courteney revealed that she got very emotional talking about infertility on her new docuseries, which chronicles the lives of a group of women and their pregnancies. “There is not an episode that I don’t cry,” she confessed. “It’s a story about 10 different couples that are taking us through the journey of their pregnancy and you deal with everything from cancer to alcoholism, I mean you name it. Whether you can keep the baby, whether you should keep the baby, whether you wanted to get pregnant … you [get] this intimate look that’s not sensationalized.”

In 2004, Courteney welcomed Coco with her now ex-husband, David Arquette, and though they’re not together anymore, Courteney and David, 47, learned to have a great coparenting relationship today. “We just respect each other,” the actor previously told Closer Weekly. “No matter what people go through, you still have a child together.”

David even gave some great advice for couples who are going through a divorce. “It’s a waste of time and money [to fight],” he said. “Anybody who’s going to put on boxing gloves when they get a divorce is making the wrong move.”
