When Rose Byrne welcomed her first son Rocco, 2, with Bobby Cannavale in 2016, the little guy had his parents’ entire attention. But once Rose gave birth to her second baby boy, Rafael, in 2017, her older son quickly became jealous. And, in a new interview, Rose candidly opened up about the “trauma” Rocco went through with baby Rafael’s arrival.

“Well it’s pretty hectic,” she said during recent a Live! with Kelly and Ryan sit-down about having two small boys. “It was a bit of an adjustment at first. Rocco, he didn’t quite get having the brother and he would wake up in the morning and go, ‘No Rafa, no Rafa.'”

Rose, 39, also admitted she was surprised that Rafael had a completely different personality than Rocco. “It’s funny that the little guy is a lot more aggressive than the big guy,” Rose explained. “He just goes in for the tackle and loves to pin [Rocco] down. It’s quite a trauma on them, I think, the first few months. It toughens them up, right?”

Host Kelly Ripa — who shares two sons, Michael, 21, and Joaquin, 15, and daughter Lola, 17, with her husband, Mark Consuelos — couldn’t agree more. “I love that age because they really recognize you,” she told Rose. “They are like real people at that point.”

Rose’s newest movie, Peter Rabbit, recently hit theaters and she just finished shooting another film called Instant Family. Bobby, 48, is also working on shooting the second season of Homecoming. Shortly after Rafael was born, Bobby told Entertainment Tonight, “It’s going great. We’re a… little bit of lack of sleep in the house, but we’re doing well.”
