Queen Elizabeth Hasn’t Gotten Involved In Meghan Markle’s Family Drama Because It’s ‘None Of Her Business’
Since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got engaged in November 2017, the former actress has been experiencing a lot of public drama with her father, Thomas Markle, who can’t seem to stop talking to the media about his daughter’s relationship with Prince Harry. And things haven’t been getting any better for the Duchess, 37, since she tied the knot with Harry, 34, and cut off all communication with Thomas either.
In a new interview, Princess Diana’s former royal butler, Paul Burrell, revealed he thinks that Queen Elizabeth has yet to intervene in Meghan’s family drama because it’s something that Meg simply has to deal with herself. “Meghan must tackle the issue and put it to bed,” Paul told In Touch Weekly on Monday, Jan. 14.
“The Queen would never reach out to solve such a personal family problem with her grandson’s wife’s father. The Queen would rather pass it over as she would consider it to be none of her business,” he said.
Queen Elizabeth, 92, is certainly dedicated to minding her own business and, apparently, doesn’t want to get caught in the middle of something that really has nothing to do with her. “Her Majesty reads the newspapers every morning at her breakfast table,” Burrell revealed. “She has seen it all before — upsets, scandals, and divorces. She takes everything she reads with a pinch of salt and has never interfered in any of her children or grandchildren’s marriages. Her mantra is simple — they make their own beds, so they must lie on them.”
Burrell does think that Meghan might want to reconnect with Thomas as soon as he stops talking badly about the royal family, but that could also be a long shot. “Meghan’s father is a problem of today and can only be silenced or tamed by one person, Meghan,” he explained to In Touch. “In this age of social media, everyone has become a reporter or photographer. News is much faster and more viral than it ever was before. The only way to deal with a family situation like this is to stem it at the source.”
