Meghan Markle’s 2-Day NYC Baby Shower Extravaganza Was Apparently ‘Exactly What She Needed’
Her “Megan Markle Sparkle” was shining brightly in New York City when the Duchess of Sussex touched down for her two-day baby shower hosted by her closest friends. The extravaganza took place last week, starting on February 19 and lasting until the next day. While spotted out and about around the city, Meg was all smiles as she visited museums, ate at five-star restaurants and spent quality time with her inner circle.
“After a drama-fueled few months, a trip to New York with her closest girlfriends was exactly what Meghan needed,” an insider recently revealed to Life & Style. “She had an absolute blast and felt like a new woman! She was telling friends she didn’t want to leave.”
Said to have been cohosted by Serena Williams and Amal Clooney, the Suits alum, 37, and her pals celebrated Meg’s impending pregnancy in a lavish, nearly $200,000 event. “Meghan’s pals wanted the baby shower to be super special, especially as it’s her first, so they didn’t hesitate to splash out and make it a days-long event,” the source dished.
Though Meg kissed her envious New York City trip goodbye days ago, fans have still been dying to hear never-be-seen-deets regarding the epic baby bash. Along with Serena and Amal, Jessica Mulroney, Misha Nonoo and Abigail Spencer were also in attendance — which would be surprising if they weren’t considering they are some of the royal’s closest friends.
“It was exactly what she needed, and it was a reunion for all of us, too, who hadn’t seen each other since the wedding,” Daniel Martin, Meg’s royal wedding makeup artist told People. “Snow was falling outside, and it was so cozy — we all sat on couches or on the floor and told stories and caught up. It was like going to a family reunion.”
Daniel also gave fans a glimpse inside the baby shower when he shared a pic to Instagram of the baby shower party favors — cookies! “Such an incredible day celebrating #babylove,” the makeup artist wrote in the caption. The photo that Daniel snapped showed three iced cookies in the shape of a baby rattle, a frilly baby’s bib and a stork as it held a baby wrapped in a blanket in its beak. So cute!
