Meghan Markle Reportedly Hosted A ‘Sayonara Zara’ Party When She Began Buying Designer Clothes

If she’s not known for being a former actress or marrying into the royal family, then Meghan Markle is known for her keen fashion sense. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly hosted a “Sayonara Zara” party, according to Vanity Fair, at the time when her acting paychecks allowed her to buy designer clothes.

Luckily for her friends, Meg generously kissed her non-designer clothes goodbye when she supposedly gave her lower-priced pieces away to guests at the party. Why you ask? So the now 37-year-old could apparently make room in her closet for her upgraded wardrobe. Meg’s shift towards a more fashion-forward style also boosted when her stylist friend Jessica Mulroney began giving her a clothing makeover.

Fast forward to the day that the former actress tied the knot with Prince Harry in May 2018, marking her as an official member of the royal family. When they first said “I do,” the Duchess faced a ton of scrutiny when it came to her sense of style. This is because many royal admirers felt that Meg was having a hard time abiding by the rules of Kensington Palace.

According to a Daily Mail report, at the time, palace aides thought that Meghan wasn’t dressing like she was the Duchess of Sussex but rather like she was still a star on the USA drama Suits. “Meghan is being told she needs to start dressing less like a Hollywood star and more like a royal,” a source revealed, adding that Queen Elizabeth agrees with that sentiment.

In fact, Meghan has been known to break royal fashion protocol.  The Duchess is no stranger to wearing black, a color that is usually only worn by royals while they’re in mourning. The “fashion teams” at the palace additionally didn’t let it go unnoticed that Meghan wore a black tuxedo while attending a special performance of Hamilton earlier this year. Eyebrows were also raised when Meg wore a dress that featured a questionable thigh-high slit during day seven of her first overseas royal tour with Harry.

Whether people like it or not, you can’t please everyone! Therefore, we think Meg should keep doing her thing and continue to inspire us with her jaw-dropping outfits.
