Meghan Markle Gave A Sweet Nod To Prince Charles With Her Jewelry At The 2018 Fashion Awards
Duchess Meghan Markle seems pretty thankful for the family she holds close, especially her royal family. The mom-to-be gave a sweet and subtle shout-out to her father-in-law, Prince Charles, while appearing at the 2018 Fashion Awards on Dec. 10.
Meghan, 37, turned heads as she donned a breathtaking black, velvet Givenchy dresses paired with gold Pippa Small jewelry. The three gold bangles and stud earrings, however, hid a meaningful message for The Prince of Wales, 70.
“Honored to see the beautiful Duchess of Sussex wearing our bangles and stud earrings proudly made by artisans of the @TurquoiseMountain foundation in Afghanistan,” Pippa Small gushed in an Instagram post alongside a picture of the beaming Duchess. While Meg has worn Pippa Small’s jewelry before, these specific pieces were special.
The Turquoise Mountain Foundation is a non-profit that trains over 5,000 people in traditional arts and rebuilds community buildings in the old city of Kabul, according to Harpers Bazaar. The organization was actually founded by Charles in 2006 in collaboration with former President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai. So sweet!
The former Suits actress isn’t the only one tossing around sweet gestures. In fact, Charles apparently keeps a framed picture of him and his daughter-in-law on display in his home, the Daily Mail reported. The picture is of the two as they walk down the aisle to Prince Harry at the couple’s May royal wedding.
The loving relationship between Meg and Charles has grown immensely amid reports that Thomas Markle is still criticizing the royal family. In his newest interview on Dec. 9 with the Mail On Sunday, Meghan’s birth father lashed out.
“The royals haven’t always been perfectly behaved,” he said while referring to his attempts to salvage his relationship with his daughter. “I wrote that I’ve never played pool naked, nor have I dressed up as a Nazi,” Thomas mentioned of Harry, 34, without actually saying his name.
If this is Thomas’ way of trying to rekindle his relationship with the royal family before Meg gives birth in Spring 2019, we don’t think it’s working too well. Looks like we’ll just have to stay tuned to see what happens next!
