It looks like Thomas Markle just won’t give up. After countless failed attempts at getting in contact with his daughter, Meghan Markle’s apparent estranged father has reached out to her mom, Doria Ragland. In a new interview with Daily Mail on Dec. 8, Thomas revealed he sought contact with his ex-wife to ask why the Duchess has cut ties with him.
“I’ve pleaded with her to pick up the phone,” the 74-year-old said of his daughter Meghan. “I wrote her a two-page letter and sent it by certified mail via her representative in LA. I asked her why she was believing the lies. I even hand-delivered a letter to Doria asking her why our daughter won’t speak to me.”
Thomas has apparently not talked to Meghan since May 20, a day after she tied the knot with Prince Harry. Since his plea has been unanswered, Thomas insinuated that Meghan has chosen not to respond. “I’ve sent several texts,” he admitted. “Her number hasn’t changed and they haven’t bounced back.”
Frustrated and confused, Thomas is trying to figure out why his 37-year-old daughter and son-in-law, who he has never met, are rejecting him. “I have been frozen out and I can’t stay silent,” Thomas said. “I have made dozens of attempts to reach my daughter via text and letters, but she and Harry have put up a wall of silence.”
In July, a royal source told Us Weekly that Thomas was “walking a fine line” with his public outbursts, and that the “blabbing needs to stop if he wants to maintain any relationship with Harry and Meghan.” However, the former TV lighting director stated that what is being said about him are lies. “If she would just speak to me, things could be different,” he pleaded. “I love Meghan very much. I want her and Harry to have a beautiful, healthy baby and a great life. But I want them to stop believing the lies.”
With Christmas just a few weeks away, Thomas is hoping for some sort of contact with the Suits alum. As he desires a card or a phone call from his daughter, Doria will be allegedly taking a trip over the pond to spend the holidays with the royal family. Once the holidays are over, Doria may be heading back to the states, but not for long.
“Doria plans to be around a lot when the baby arrives,” a Vanity Fair source dished. Meghan and Harry, 34, are even making “plans for her to have a dedicated space at their new home” at Frogmore Cottage. We suppose it won’t be long before Thomas makes a remark about that, so stay tuned!
