Traffic star James Brolin has it all! He’s a father of three and a loving husband to wife Barbra Streisand. Not to mention, he’s also a producer and director, who is worth $50 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

James, who was born in Los Angeles in 1940 to parents Henry and Helen Bruderlin, was originally named Craig Bruderlin by his parents. But he changed his name at age 20 because the Westworld star thought he would have more success as an actor. Although he starred in many small films like Take Her, She’s Mine, Fantastic Voyage and Dear Brigitte, James didn’t become famous until he started taking on more serious roles in the 1970s.

Because he was tall, Hollywood directors wanted the 6 foot 4 actor to be the leading man. In 1972, James played Jerome K. Weber in Skyjacked and John Blane in 1973’s Westworld. Those roles put him on the map, and by the mid-’70s, everyone knew who James was. In fact, his acting was so good that the dad of three was in talks to play James Bond in the 1983 film Octopussy. But once he started getting ready to move to London, the producers persuaded Roger Moore to continue the role.

Although he was out of luck, James’ career was far from over. He went on to play Mr. Anderson in Cher and Christina Aguilera‘s film Burlesque and even General Ralph Landry in his most notable film to date: Traffic. But even with all of his success, James treasured his kids and grandkids the most.

He recalls “jumping” for joy when he learned son Josh Brolin and his wife, Kathryn Boyd, were expecting baby No. 2. “First, they told us very early on and said, ‘Don’t tell anybody,’ and I think that’s because [Kathryn] wanted to have her sonograms back and be sure of everything,” James exclusively recalled to Closer Weekly. “And then, when they found out it was another girl and [they] told us, we just were jumping up and down.” How sweet.

Now family is the most important thing in the actor’s life!
