We missed her! Hoda Kotb visited The Tonight Show last night without her sidekick, Savannah Guthrie, who, unfortunately, has been out of commission due to illness this week.

On Wednesday, February 20, the 54-year-old TV star sat down with host Jimmy Fallon to discuss her first year cohosting Today alongside Savannah, 47, but the late night interview was bittersweet since the pair couldn’t be on the program together. “I wish Savannah could have been here, she actually got really sick,” Hoda explained to Jimmy. “One of her kids got sick [and gave it to her] — I was texting her like, ‘Are you sure you’re not going to be able to make it?’ And she said, ‘I am like laid out.’ Everybody’s got it.”

“Everyone’s getting this flu or something, I’m afraid to get it and I don’t … I’m freaking out right now,” the SNL alum, 44, replied before taking out a bottle of hand sanitizer from behind his desk for both of them to use. “This is what you’ve got to do … I am not getting this flu, man! There’s no way, I’m not doing it! Everyone’s getting it,” he added.

“They’re dropping like flies!” Hoda said. But even though Savannah, 47, couldn’t be there, her pal had no problem praising her. “My admiration for her like deepens every day,” she said, adding, “Some people you meet and you love them on the first day and then as the days go on, it’s like, you know it doesn’t, it wears. With Savannah, it’s the opposite of that.” Savannah was also not on Today on Thursday, February 21, due to the same illness, so we hope she gets better soon!

During her chat with Jimmy, Savannah wasn’t the only Today personality that Hoda discussed, as Kathie Lee Gifford‘s name also came up, mainly due to the fact that the 65-year-old will be departing from the news show in April. “I got to sit next to a television legend and that doesn’t happen in a lifetime,” the Dateline NBC alum said about working beside Kathie Lee. “The show was a blast.”

Here’s hoping Kathie Lee also stays away from the flu!
