There’s nothing better than strong women championing other strong women and that’s exactly what Katie Couric has been up to! The Today show veteran still has an incredible amount of love for her NBC family — namely the morning program’s current co-anchors, Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie.

During a recent interview with E! News at National Geographic’s premiere screening of America Inside Out With Katie Couric, Katie gushed, “I think they’re doing a great job. We shouldn’t have to fit into some cookie cutter preconception of what is right and what looks right.” We couldn’t agree more! Hoda and Savannah have remained beyond poised throughout what’s proven to be a very volatile time for NBC.

After the February 2017 announcement that Matt Lauer was fired for sexual misconduct, Savannah handled the ordeal like a true professional. Breaking the news on-air on Nov. 29, 2017, she said, “This is a sad morning at NBC News… We just learned this moments ago. Just this morning. As I’m sure you can imagine, we are devastated and we are still processing all of this.”

Of course, Katie would admire such bravery! She continued to E! News, “I think anytime you have confidence and variety, it opens the door and just increases the opportunities for everyone.” On Hoda, she commented, “Hoda is a very genuine, authentic person and I think the camera doesn’t lie. I think her warmth is very real and I think that people appreciate that.”

Even though acclaimed host Katie returned to NBC for the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony, she won’t be returning to the network anytime soon. Katie joked, “[Hoda and Savannah] don’t need a crazy aunt.” Even so, we hope these dynamic ladies reunite in the future!
