She’s already a mom to four little youngsters under the age of 5, but prior to even having kids, Hilaria Baldwin never expected to have such a large family with her husband and father of her kids, Alec Baldwin.

“When I was growing up, I didn’t think I wasn’t going to become a mom, but having a big family wasn’t necessarily something that I was so focused on,” the 35-year-old admitted to Parents in a new interview. “But I met [Alec] when I had just turned 27, and then, I was pregnant by the time I was 28.”

Hilaria even dished that she was going to start off having kids very slow. “At that time, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to just start with one,’ and I was worried. I didn’t know if I was going to like it,” she confessed. “But that changed as soon as I gave birth the first time. I had just delivered Carmen, and my feet were in the stirrups, I had her on my chest, and I said to Alec, ‘Oh, my God. I want to do it again.'”

Within less than five years of welcoming their first child, Hilaria and Alec have become parents to four little bundles of joy — Carmen, 5, Rafael, 3, Leo, 2, and Romeo, 9 months. After subsequently nursing one child while being pregnant with the next, Hilaria said that Romeo “was the only one” she and Alec were prepared for. “Baby No. 4, Romeo, was the one that we actually were like, ‘What would happen if we tried?'”

Being the mama bear of a large brood was not only something that Hilaria didn’t expect, but it was something that she didn’t think she ever wanted. “It surprised me that I wanted to have so many,” the Mom Brain podcast host told the outlet. “I remember one of my friends was super close with this family that had a ton of children. I’d look at that and think, ‘Wow, that sounds horrible. It must be chaos all the time.'”

Even though Hilaria agreed that there is most definitely “chaos in the house,” she and Alec are still thinking about welcoming more children to their family. “When I’ll have a day that’s really hard with the kids and I’m like, ‘No more kids!’ And then I have a day where they’re like really cute like this and I’m like, ‘I could have another one.’ We’ll see,” she wrote in an Instagram story shared this past October.

Despite having her hands full with four adorable tiny tots, Hilaria knows that even on the worst days, she’ll make it through. “Now, people definitely look at our family and say, ‘Oh, gosh. I don’t know how you do it,'” the yoga instructor said. “Quite honestly, it’s different when they’re yours. You just do it. You make it happen. We do a lot of group activities where I’ll bathe them all together. We all eat together. And I make a point to give them their individual time.” Hilaria is one amazing mama!
