Two years after Gwyneth Paltrow and her ex-husband, Chris Martin, “consciously uncoupled,” the Coldplay frontman candidly opened up about his past marriage to Gwyn in the new documentary Coldplay: A Head Full Of Dreams. In the film, Chris noted that their crumbling relationship was a very “challenging period” in his life, and according to a new Heat magazine report, Gwyneth isn’t happy that Chris spoke out about their divorce.

“[Gwyneth] was furious that [Chris] took their separation to such a dark place in the documentary as it goes against everything she’d said previously. She can’t help but feel this is further proof that Chris is no longer interested in playing by her rules,” a source recently told the magazine.

In the documentary, Chris said his relationship with Gwyn put a lot of stress on him. “I was just like, ‘I’m a mess,’ really because I can’t enjoy the great things around me. Then, of course, I went through a break-up with Gwyneth,” he shared, “Listen, I’m never going to moan, I’m grateful for everything, but it was pretty much touch and go.'”

Gwyneth and Chris got divorced in July 2016 and Chris said that after he left Gwyneth, he felt “completely worthless.” It took him some time before he could start to feel like his old self again. He recalled the divorce taking him on a “journey from ultimate loneliness to ultimate togetherness.”

“I was worried about him to the extent that I was just really glad to get a text in the morning just to know he was OK,” Chris’ former manager Phil Harvey explained in the documentary. But these days, Chris is doing a lot better dating actress Dakota Johnson and Gwyneth recently got married to Brad Falchuk this past September.

“Despite the fact that Gwyneth is building a new married life with Brad, she likes to keep up this idea that she and Chris have an unshakeable bond,” the source added. It seems like Gwyn and Chris have a great co-parenting relationship raising their two kids, Apple, 14, and Moses, 12, so we hope that can continue despite this bump in the road!
