Gwyneth Paltrow, 46, Says She’s Now Seeing Signs Of Menopause
So relatable! Gwyneth Paltrow is 46 and fabulous, and in a new video for her beauty brand, Goop, she opened up about aging — and revealed she’s been experiencing the early stages of menopause.
“I think when you get into perimenopause you notice a lot of changes,” she said in the clip. “I can feel hormonal shifts happening, the sweating, the moods, you know, you’re just like all of a sudden furious for no reason.”
Mayo Clinic describes premenopause as irregular periods, hot flashes, and mood changes that begin in your 30s and 40s. When a woman doesn’t get her period for a full year, it turns into menopause.
But Gwyneth — who married Brad Falchuk late last month — thinks that menopause “gets a really bad rap and needs a bit of rebranding.” She added, “I don’t think we have in our society a great example of an aspirational menopausal woman.”
Gwyneth was first inspired to help women with menopause after watching her mother, Blythe Danner, go through it. “I remember when my mother went through menopause and it was such a big deal and I think there was grief around it for her and all these emotions,” she shared. “There aren’t a lot of products being made for us to really help us through this phase.”
That said, her brand has created menopausal supplements. “Surrounding yourself with love and the right amount of self-care is always the way forward,” she shared of her advice for those experiencing it.
It seems Gwyneth has shifted her focus from acting to health and wellness. “I’m not sure how I’ll feel about acting going forward. I’m doing just a teensy little bit here and there when I have time, but I am loving running my business,” she revealed in June 2017. “You know, my life has been skewing far more heavily towards my business, and it has to right now that we have so much going on. We’re growing so fast, and it’s such an exciting time to be doing what I’m doing.” We’ll take advice from Gwyneth Paltrow any day!
