On Never Being Apart

“Even before the pandemic, where we have spent every day together, we spent very few nights apart because we just feel like that’s important,” Trisha told SheKnows in December 2021, adding, “We were both married before, and so we thought if we’re going to be together, let’s not get married to be together and then be apart.”

Trisha continued, “That means sometimes you don’t get to do things you want to do because I would love to go do this movie or that project, but I’d be gone for two weeks and he can’t go so that’s just not an option.”

Trisha on Garth’s Thoughtfulness

“Garth is much more of a thoughtful person than me,” Trisha gushed in the same interview, adding, “I think he wakes up 24/7 thinking about how he can make my life better, and I think about him maybe 20 hours a day. The rest of the time I’m thinking, how do I make myself better or more grateful for everything he does?”

Garth On Being a Huge Fan of His Wife’s Music

Garth has always been a big fan of Trisha’s music. He revealed during an episode of Inside Studio G in April 2021 that he has one huge dream for his wife.

“One of the greatest crimes in country music history right now: Trisha Yearwood is not in the Country Music Hall of Fame yet. That is a crime because I cannot tell you how many people have moved to this town because this woman’s voice drove them here,” Garth said. “This is the greatest singer we have in country music, arguably, and so I’m a huge, huge fan.”

The Couple Gave Marriage Advice

Garth and Trisha hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show together in May 2021. The duo took questions from the audience and even dished out advice to other couples.

“I think you gotta treat it like a duet,” Garth said about marriage. “You got to harmonize. You got to make your partner feel like they’re a star. And, if not, you’re going to turn into a solo act pretty damn quick, if you know what I mean. We’re talking about lone fiddler, bass solo.”

Garth On How He Introduces Trisha

In November 2016, Garth appeared on The View after being crowned the CMA Entertainer of the Year. He couldn’t help but talk about Trisha and was beaming from ear to ear.

“I introduce her as the love of my life everywhere that we go. She introduces me as her current husband. So you can see how the relationship kinda works here,” Garth joked.

Trisha On Being Friends First

Being two of the biggest stars in country music definitely can lead the pair to have busy schedules. In a September 2021 interview with Woman’s World, Trisha shared how having a strong foundation has led them to balance their careers and marriage.

“Because we are best friends, and we were friends a long time before we were a couple, we have that base,” she said. “Sometimes when you are mad at somebody, as long as you are friends at the end of the day, that’s really important.”

Garth On Valentine’s Day

Trisha and Garth always show their love for each other every single day, not just on Valentine’s Day. In 2017, Garth gave the sweetest explanation to Country Daily about his love for her.

“Being in the same room, breathing the same air, whether you’re doing the same thing or not – doesn’t matter,” the country crooner said. “Just as long as I know she’s there, then I don’t think there’s anything I can’t do in that moment. And that’s a great strength to have.”

Trisha On Their Mutual Respect For Each Other

Trisha and Garth are always thankful that they were able to establish a friendship first. In a December 2019 interview with Closer Weekly, Trisha admitted that she still “lights up” whenever Garth enters the room.

“We always had a very deep respect for each other,” she explained. “It’s the friendship and the respect that sustains you. That’s the key, plus we laugh all the time.”
