If Busy Philipps and husband Marc Silverstein ever got divorced, we don’t know what we’d do! After the pair welcomed their two kids — Birdie, 11, and Cricket, 6 — in 2008 and 2013, their marriage took a bit of a nose dive. They had a lot of trouble figuring out each other’s parenting responsibilities and, according to Busy, she was ready to leave her man if he didn’t step up to the plate more often.

“Marc was like, ‘I’ll do anything.’ And I was like, ‘OK, then do everything. Because I have done it all, all by myself, and I’m done, dude,’” the 40-year-old star of Busy Tonight told Harper’s Bazaar in a new interview. “I was fully out the door.”

However, Busy decided to stay because Marc, 48, ended up showing her how good of a dad he could really be. “I wasn’t expecting anything from him,” she said. “But what we ended up doing was creating our own system.”

The system allowed the former Freaks and Geeks star and Marc to split their time with the kids in a way that worked for both of them. “He made the call: He should be the one to stay home with the kids,” Busy explained. Luckily, it worked out and they’re still together to this day!

“He now loves his mornings with the girls,” she gushed about him. “He’ll make my Bulletproof coffee and bring it into the bedroom while I’m still sleeping, and then leave to take the kids to school. He has conversations with them that I’m jealous of. The closeness he now has with these girls, it’s really special.”

Marc and his children have been getting along so great that Busy doesn’t want it to ever end! “Sometimes I’ve wondered about Marc taking over Birdie’s bedtime. I’ve thought to myself, ‘Is this the right thing for her?’” she noted. “But I’m not going to call him out on what I think is right or wrong because he’s doing it!”

“Marc literally spends so much time with the girls that they accidentally call me ‘Dad’ sometimes,” Busy joked. “Like when did that ever happen?”

We love this family!
