Single but not ready to mingle! Ben Affleck, who split from his wife, Jennifer Garner, in 2018 and is still dealing with alcohol addiction recovery, is apparently focusing on himself and staying away from dating in 2019.
“It’s going to be tough,” an insider close to the actor told In Touch in the magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands now. “But Ben says he’s taking a year off from dating. It’s part of his recovery. No romantic entanglement means no distractions. I hope he can do it.” However, it sounds like Ben’s plan is just going to include a year of no new relationships — rekindling romances with former flames may still be on the table. “He could hook up again with Shauna [Sexton, his 23-year-old former flame] or get back with Lindsay [Shookus, 38],” the insider said. “Or who knows, maybe he’ll get back with Jen. His drinking is a big reason why they split, so if he’s sober…”
Well, whatever route the Daredevil star decides to take, we’re just happy to hear that he’s on his way to living a healthy life again. Another source close to the actor also exclusively told Closer Weekly that the Oscar winner has been focusing on bettering himself quite a bit. “Ben’s saying bye, bye to his dad body and baggy clothes,” the insider said. “He’s been looking different to his friends and there’s a good reason.”
It was also revealed that Ben is updating his look through the help of a stylist, too! “He hired a stylist and a personal trainer. Sobriety made him look at all aspects of his life, including his appearance,” the insider continued. “When you have a beard, the disheveled look just doesn’t work, unless you’re going for a sloppy lumberjack [or] drifter vibe, which Ben wasn’t. Ben’s in the best shape of his life and he’s never been more stylish.”
The source added, “The baggy pants, oversized shirts and sweaters are gone. He’s lean and his wardrobe needed to reflect that. His stylist hooked him up with a fitted wardrobe, good shoes and Ben has been loving the results. He’s into the layered look and even put a few outfits together on his own that were very impressive.”
Stay strong, Ben!
