Sherri Shepherd's longstanding legal dispute with her ex came to an end earlier today when a judge ruled the former 'The View' cohost is the mother of an eight-month-old baby the couple previously welcomed via surrogate.
"It's bittersweet," the star's former husband Lamar Sally, 44, told 'People.' "I'm glad it's over, but I feel sad what it had to come to. Now I can go back to LA and tend to my son."

Before divorcing in May 2014, the couple allegedly planned to have a child via surrogate — using Lamar's sperm and another woman's egg — until Sherri, 47, had a change of heart just a few months into the surrogate's pregnancy. When the baby was born last August, the TV personality reportedly stated she did not want to be part of the child's life.

"I just don’t understand how she can act like this baby is nonexistent. It just blows my mind," the couple's surrogate, Jessica Bartholomew, 23, said of the star in a January 2015 interview with 'Inside Edition.'

During the court proceedings on Tuesday, April 21, Craig Bluestein, a legal representative for the baby, cited a series of video clips of Sherri — who did not appear in court — expressing her excitement for the child as helping the judge make a final decision in the case.
"I feel very good," Bluestein told 'People.' "I think little LJ, who is not yet one-year-old, needed some protection. Justice was served today."
