As Sherri Shepherd leaves The View after seven seasons as co-host, she's immediately begun preparing for a new role on Broadway as the wicked stepmother in Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella."

“I screamed, jumped up and down, then said, ‘OMG! I can’t sing!’” Sherri exclusively reveals to Closer of the moment she heard the news.

But not to worry, she’s hard at work rehearsing for her Sept. 9 debut. “I keep running around screaming, 'Cinderella!' and cackling hysterically. I love it, but it’s scaring my [8-year-old] son Jeffrey,” Sherri jokes.

“I’m known as such a ‘nice’ girl — it’ll be a thrill to bring that yummy wicked side to life with laughter!” she dishes to Closer.

She also shares the musical has always been a personal favorite of hers. “I loved the fairy tale of girl meets boy — and there just happens to be gorgeous shoes involved!”
