At the Aug. 23 wedding of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, one person was notably absent: the actress' mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who passed away in 2007 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.
Though her mother wasn't there to witness the joyous occasion, the A-list couple still honored her during the ceremony at their French estate, Château Miraval.
"Brad had a dedication to Marcheline engraved inside the chapel where we stood," Angelina told People magazine. The Maleficent star and her brother, James Haven, also wore pieces of their mother's jewelry as a reminder.

"[I] wore a little flower ring that was hers, and Jamie wore an angel pin from her jewelry box," she revealed to the mag.
The brunette beauty was extremely close to Marcheline, whom she called her "best friend." While accepting the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award before last year's Oscars, Angelina shared that her mother, who died at age 56, was the inspiration behind her philanthropy work.
"She believed nothing would mean anything if you didn't lead a life that was of use to others," she said at the Governors Awards last November.
People magazine was the first to interview Angelina after the Aug. 23 wedding.
